The Breville 800ESXL Espresso Machine features the unique 15-BAR Triple Prime™ pump and a dual-wall stainless steel filter that together create a rich, smooth coffee. The pump automatically releases three bursts of hot water into the filter head, causing the ground coffee or espresso pod to expand. The increased pressure allows the machine to extract more crema. The filter features a dual-wall construction - the first wall has 333 pores, and the second has a single exit hole that produces a back pressure for maximum flavor extraction.
The stainless steel steam wand produces continuous dry steam for barista-style milk and froth and also dispenses hot water for hot chocolate or tea. It is mounted on a swivel ball so that it can easily swing out of the way.
After steaming is complete, the Auto-Purge™ function releases a measured amount of steam to return the water to the ideal extraction temperature of 204°F.
In addition, this espresso machine features a 4.5-inch head elevation that accommodates larger cups and travel mugs, a 75-oz. removable water tank, a cup warming tray and a self-retracting water tank tube.
Both durable and stylish, the 800ESXL boasts a die-cast construction formed from the highest grade aluminum and zinc.

| Comments: | My experience is with the "deluxe" programmable model, with the added pressure gauge, and I have only good things to say. While some might suggest that this machine does not make "excellent" espresso, they have their standards set ridiculously high. For this price, you will get a machine that can make very nice espresso. With some tinkering (stirring the grounds before tamping) and a good steel tamper, I have on occasion produced shots that I feel are a touch stronger than some commerical ones I've had. Using your own favorite medium- or dark-roasted coffee for shots adds another degree of customization not found in commercial shops. The reservoir is a little tricky to get out, as it cannot be removed without keeping the steam wand well off to the side. Removing the reservoir with a basket holder in is an impossibility. The reservoir is large enough, however, that this is not often a problem. You will not regret purchasing this machine, if it performs even half so well as I would expect it to. |

My husband says that it works great and it does make great cappuccino. I give it 4 stars because of the price, but I did rate a 5 for my gift choice. |

| Comments: | I have had the Breville Espresso maker for about 7 months now. I think that for 350 dollars it is an excellent deal. It is all stainless steel and very heavy. The accessories are quality as well. The portafilter and filters are well built. This espresso machine consistently makes a great espresso. I can taste the difference between this espresso and commercial quality espresso but I could not pay for that expensive of a machine. This machine will pay for itself within a year. |
