Portable, safe and convenient, the Avanti IHP1500 Induction Hotplate is the ideal cooking solution for small apartments, college dorms or RVs. It can also be used as an extra cooktop in the home kitchen when preparing for large parties or a home buffet.
The IHP1500 features a ceramic glass cooktop and a digital display for timer and temperature/power settings. The hotplate offers the choice of 6 temperature settings as well as full range temperature control from 158° to 392°F. Other features include dual function programs (Warm/Cook), a 1-120 minute timer with Cancel option, 2 power settings (1300 and 1500 Watts) and automatic shut-off/overheat protection. The hotplate includes a free 10½" diameter induction compatible skillet with a glass lid.
HOW INDUCTION COOKTOPS WORK
An induction cooktop itself does not create heat. Instead, it generates an electromagnetic field that induces an electrical current in metal cookware. Electrical resistance in the cookware, in turn, converts the electrical energy to heat energy. In other words, the heat is actually generated in the cookware and transferred directly to the food. Once the cookware is removed from the cooktop, no more heat is generated. In addition, the cooktop is safe to touch even when it is switched on and no cookware is on it. Because induction cooktops use electromagnetism to generate heat, the cookware must be made of ferrous (iron or steel) materials. Non-ferrous materials on the cookware will not be affected.
