Comments:I bought two of these approx. Mar 2007. One is still working fine and one is not as of Oct 10 2008. the bad one just started getting warmer and warmer and would not get cold. I called beverage factory and they were nice but reminced me that I did not purchase the extended warranty so I needed to call Avanti and they gave me the number. I called them and they said I was past the 12 month warranty and there was nothing they could do. They could not even recommend a service center at all. I did get a repair man over and gambled on recharging the freon for $300 and it lasted for another 3 months only. So bottom line is you MUST BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY from Beverage factory and then you get 5 years of use. My only other comment is that it does not fit the bourdeux size bottles.
Bottom Line:I would not recommend this product.

Great!

Comments:After hours and hours of research, I finally chose this product. I was a little nervous when ordering it, because I could not find any reviews about it on-line. I have now learned that no news is usually good news, when you can't find a review on a product on-line. This one is GREAT! I will share what I have learned, in case it helps anyone else searching for a review:

1. SUPPLIER: The Beverage Factory was wonderful in helping me look for the key things needed in a wine cooler for our particular situation (a home, basement, built-in bar). They are very skilled. I was not able to find that kind of knowledge anywhere else that I had called. They know their stuff.

2. SHIPPING: It shipped out and was delivered quite quickly. The packaging was first class. The factory box was packaged inside of a larger shipping box, with foam in betweeen. After ordering, make sure and call the delivery people before their first attempt, if you will not be home on the anticipated delivery date (via the package tracking number). A signature is required for delivery, so you must be home. They will only try a few times, then after that, you'll have to go pick it up. Lastly, the larger outer box will not fit through a standard doorway (to our basement). So you'll need a place to remove the inner box from the outer box before moving it through a standard doorway.

3. SHELVES: Now to the product itself...it is great. Whatever wine cooler you choose, make sure it has sturdy pull-out, roller assembly shelves. At first I thought this was a nice "extra," until I went to find a bottle of wine. Once they are loaded into the cooler, you cannot see what wine each bottle is labeled unless you can pull out the entire shelf (the bottom of each bottle that you can see through the glass door tells you nothing). You would not want to pull each bottle out by hand (it can fit up to 54, I believe) to find the one you are looking for. So, pull out, sturdy shelves are a MUST!! Also, some coolers I reseached did not fit some standard bottles of wine in between their shelves, and this cooler fits every bottle (multiple different brands) that we have. Lastly on the shelves, at first I didn't think I'd care for the wooden face on the shelves, but they are more impressive and "professional" looking in person than the photos I had seen. The wood shelves even smells nice when you open the cooler.

4. LIGHT: It has a lighted cabinet that you can control with an on/off switch (some brands had an automatic 60 minute timer, which we did not care for...we don't want to have to keep going over there to turn it back on again every 60 minutes when we're entertaining). The only disappointment I have is that the light isn't very bright - it is very, very dim. However, it is my understanding that this is necessary for the wine itself (bright lights can damage the wine). So, it's necessary to be this kind of dim light, from what I understand.

5. TEMP CONTROL: You also have more temperature control than the write-ups suggested to me. You can control it up or down each degree. So, when you're in the "whites" range, that light will light up; and when you're in the "reds" range, that light will light up (so you don't have to be a pro to know what temp to set it at).

6. LOCK: The security lock is critical to families like ours - we have kids coming and going either to play with our children, or to babysit, or to dog sit. We want to know that we are not contributing to any trouble.

7. BUILT-IN ABILITY: We found that most appliances that can be used for a built in application (it must be able to vent from the front, for there is not room in the back to vent properly), are very expensive. This was a great price for one with this ability. We now have the flexibility to build it into a bar (it is a standard appliance size), or, if we move, we can take it with us and let someone else put in what they want into that space. It is very attractive and sturdy when freestanding as well.

8. And it's very quiet!! It's hard to tell when it's running.

9. The only suggestion I would have for an upgrade, is if you're both a white and red wine drinker, AND, you like your red wines slightly chilled. Most people keep their red wines at room temperature in wine racks and put their white wines in a cooler, but if you enjoy your reds chilled as well as your white, they make wine coolers with dual ability (2 zones, with different temperature controls).

Overall, GREAT product!!
Bottom Line:I would recommend this product.
