| Comments: | The SWC-1545 was delivered on time and packaged extremely well. It's light enough so that one person can move it with a hand truck and easily slide it into place. After waiting the recommended 48 hours for refrigerant to settle, I turned it on and was pleased to hear that it was fairly quiet. Like many wine cabinets the capacity is a bit overstated. I think between 60 and 70 bottles is more realistic. Although the cooler has two thermostats and digital readouts, one for the upper and one for the lower levels, only the lower level thermostat controls the compressor. A customer service rep at the manufacturer explained that the upper level thermostat controls the heater- to prevent over-chilling perhaps? If you plan to store only red or only white wines, this may not be the cooler for you. The cooling unit is at the bottom and, given limited convection inside, the top shelf temperature will be 15° or 16° warmer than the lower level thermostat setting. So if you set the lower level thermostat to 44°, the bottom shelf will be at that temperature and the top shelf will be 59° or 60°, with the temperature of the intermediate shelves ranging in a consistent manner between those two temperatures. Since we store both red and white, I’m quite pleased so far. It works for me. |
