Orbital Decanter with Silver Plated Base and Crystal Stopper - 60 oz. capacity ( 1 qt. 28 oz.). 10-1/2" tall (with stopper) The wines served in our Orbital Decanter may taste out of this world, but that's not the reason for its name. When the decanter is removed from its tastefully simple silver-plated base, its "V"-shaped base causes it to roll gently from side to side on your table, and the wine within can breathe fully while the sediment stays in the bottom. Lovely but with small issues

Comments:The price was great and the shipping was speedy. The orbital decanter is a lovely design for wine lovers. The only small issues are....It was a gift for a friend so I'm glad I inspected it first because the decanter was so filthy right out of the box. It had strong hazy streaks inside as if someone used it, gave it a light rinse then let it air dry upside-down. I had to wash it then bend wire to create a make-shift cleaner to reach inside to dry it. This brings me to the second issue: It is so hard to clean due to it's shape, but I should be smart enough to think of that before purchasing. With the proper cleaning device it should be fine. Finally, the silver plated base looked pretty cheap. It had some irregularities in it, like little bumps and obvious seams. But all-in-all it was a good buy and a nice conversation piece. I'm happy with it and with this company.
Bottom Line:

Stunning and Classy

Comments:Beautiful decanter. In fact, since purchased, I've seen it in wineries and upscale restaurants. The decanter is classy and not too big. I've received multiple compliments, and it looks good if its empty too. Easy to clean.
Bottom Line:I would recommend this product.

DECANTING: GETTING THE BEST OUT OF A BOTTLE OF WINE

Decanting is simply transferring the wine from the bottle to another container. Little understood and practiced by few, decanting, when done in a restaurant demonstrates to the patron a serious dedication to optimum wine service. When a wine is decanted it invariably attracts the attention of other patrons at neighboring tables. For the restaurateur, this could eventually mean an increase in wine sales.

At home it affords a great way for friends and family to increase their enjoyment of a wine after it has been decanted.

WINE AND AIR
Many wine drinkers notice, it is only when the bottle is nearly finished that the wine seems to come into its own. It is simple. It takes time for a wine to react to contact with air. The swirling of wine in a glass hastens this action. For this reason wine glasses should only be half-filled. It is also why larger wine glasses are preferred.

Having been cooped up in a bottle for any number of years, a wine, especially an older wine, needs an opportunity to open up, to bloom, before it can reveal its fullest flavor and bouquet. Decanting is an accelerated form of letting a wine "breathe".

YOUNG WINES AND DECANTING
Strangely enough, young wines benefit greatly from decanting. The oxygen they contain has actually had little time to take effect. The air in the decanter achieves change rapidly. It means you get more of what you paid for and lets you enjoy literally twice as much bouquet and aroma from the wine.

Pouring is slow, continuous and steady. Decanting is not a difficult procedure.

Enjoy one of the most impressive phases of wine serving. Decant! To your health.
