Calcium Carbonate, or precipitated chalk, is commonly used to increase the pH level when added to boiling wort. Used to lower the acidity in beer and provides temporary hardness. It is recommended to use 1g per gallon while making beer. Adds 106 ppm calcium and 158 ppm carbonate. For making wine, 2.5 grams per gallon will lo0wer acidity by roughly .1%
