Briess Extra Special - 50 lb
Briess Extra Special is a hybrid drum roasted specialty malt. With a complex flavor that includes aspects of both caramel and dry roasted malts, Briess Extra Special is very different from the similarly-colored Caramel 120L. It tastes of toasted marshmallow, mild coffee, and prunes, with a dry, woody character. It imparts deep copper hues, trending towards light brown with heavier use. It can be used in low percentages to add complex background flavors to lighter colored or lighter gravity beers. Used more heavily it will add color and toffee-like aroma.
