The Andropogon Citratus is considered to have its origins in Southern India and Malaysia. The name Cymbopogon is derived from the Greek words a "kymbea" (boat) and a "pogona" (beard), referring to the flower spike arrangement. This ingredient has been used in India for more than 2000 years for its carminative and anti-spasmodic properties. It can be added during the last few minutes of the boil or during secondary fermentation.
