With its spacious 5.3 cubic foot capacity, the Danby DBC514BLS Beverage Center can store 110 beverage cans (up to 112 355-mL cans) in addition to 11 bottles of wine. Inside its stylish black interior, 3 frosted glass shelves provide adjustable shelf storage, while the Cool Blue LED lighting system illuminates the interior without the heat of traditional incandescent bulbs that can warm stored contents. An interior front-mounted blue LED display panel offers convenient viewing of temperature settings as well as an adjustable thermostat with a range from 40°F to 64°F.
Framed in stylish stainless steel, the reversible tempered glass door protects stored contents from harmful UV light and includes an integrated child-proof lock to prevent unwanted access.
This beverage center also features a unique fan-forced interior cooling system that better maintains the desired set temperatures in comparison to conventional cycle defrost systems. The DBC514BLS is suitable for both built-in and freestanding applications.

| Comments: | This is an under-the-counter kitchen cooler, designed to hold a combination of wines and other beverages. Attractive unit, cool blue lighting, very nice bottom shelf wine bottle holder keeps the bottles from rolling around. It is reasonably priced, and holds temperature to within a degree or so of the setting you choose. Gets plenty cool enough for water, soda, beer. My wife says it is a little noisy, but it doesn't bother me. The worst thing about it is very poor flexibility for the 3 shelves. There are 6 built-in mounts to slide the shelves on, but the top location is too high to fit a normal can, so it is useless. The bottom shelf fits just over the wine bottle rack, so it has to stay there. That leaves 2 shelves and 4 choices of locations to put them. But unless you are willing to position one shelf 2.5" above another, you really don't have any flexibility at all. There is absolutely no way to configure the shelves to accomodate a bottle of beer, sports drink, water bottle, etc without simply removing (and losing) an entire shelf. Somebody could have thought this through a little better in the design process, but maybe they think there are only two beverages in the world: wine and soda-pop. Apart from that serious limitation, we like the unit. |
