LD Carlson Aeration System - Pump, Filter, and Diffusion Stone
Model: 4980
- Make better home brew with this Aeration Sytem with a pre-fermentation addition of oxygen to beer wort, wine must, and shine mash
- The pump works by forcing air through a sanitary in-line filter and then pumps the air into your wort through the included 2 micron diffusion stone, dissolving much-needed oxygen into solution
- The sanitary air filter keeps out all living organisms including wild yeast and acetobacteria, so your wort is actually safer than it would be with stirring splashing, or pouring back and forth
- This kit will give you a better shot of a healthy yeast population, and healthy yeast means better attenuation, more complete fermentations, lower fermentation times, less chance of a stuck fermentation, and fewer off flavors.
- The kit is a complete and ready to go solution, just sanitize the stone and bottom half of tubing, turn it on, and drop it in your fermenter
This aeration system is a safe and economical way to introduce oxygen into your wort. Unlike oxygenation systems where tanks must be replaced, this will never run out of air! The pump works to force air first through a sanitary in-line filter, which removes dirt and contaminants. It then pumps the air into your wort through the included 2 micron diffusion stone, dissolving much-needed oxygen into solution in the process. The sanitary air filter keeps out all living organisms including wild yeast and acetobacteria, so your wort is actually safer than it would be with stirring splashing, or pouring back and forth. This kit will give you a better shot of a healthy yeast population, and healthy yeast means better attenuation, more complete fermentations, lower fermentation times, less chance of a stuck fermentation, and fewer off flavors. The kit is a complete and ready to go solution, just sanitize the stone and bottom half of tubing, turn it on, and drop it in your fermenter!
Yeast needs some oxygen to function at its best so all just-boiled cooled worts will need aeration. Aeration replaces the oxygen depleted during the boil. Aeration can be accomplished by vigorous stirring and pouring back and forth, or with this this kit, simply dropping the diffusion stone in the bucket and turning on the pump for 30 minutes. By adding air the lag time between pitching yeast and noticing a vigorous fermentation is reduced. The generally accepted temperature for aeration is 80°F and you should not aerate while the wort is hot or even warm.
Please Note:
- The filter should never get wet, don't try and sanitize it by dunking it in sanitizer.
- Carboy is not inclulded
