Product Spotlight: Gaggia 11400 Achille Manual Espresso Machine
Manual or Piston espresso makers have not varied much in design, style, or mechanics since their predecessors first burst onto the market in the 1940's... until now. Meet the Gaggia 11400 Achille Manual Espresso Machine which preserves the old world aesthetic appeal of manual espresso makers while at the same time employing modern brewing technologies making it one of the most user friendly lever style machines on the market!
The Achille still employs the tried and true mechanical functions for brewing espresso such as requiring the user to raise the espresso maker's lever (which infuses the coffee with the water) and then subsequently pull the lever down applying the right amount of force. This action pushes water through the coffee at which point fresh brewed espresso is extracted into your cup.
What sets the Achille apart from both its predecessors and its contemporaries is its state-of-the-art stainless steel heat exchange boiler. This boiler enables you to quickly move from brewing to steaming with no wait time. In addition, the Achille is outfitted with an internal pressure regulator that controls the boiler temperature and pressure ensuring your Gaggia is always ready to brew!
Realizing that the Achilles' instant steaming abilities need to be taken full advantage of, Gaggia outfitted each one of these manual espresso makers with their exclusive Turbo Frother. The Turbo Frother is mounted on a ball joint towards the top of the espresso maker which allows it to accommodate any size frothing pitcher and easily froths milk to the correct consistency for cappuccinos, lattes, and more.
As if one modern feature on this classic style espresso maker was not enough, the Achille is the only manual machine to feature a 58mm commercial portafilter. Constructed of chrome-plated brass, this portafilter creates the best possible temperature stability enabling the Achille to produce amazing shots of espresso. The 58mm commercial style portafilter is also compatible with the ESE brewing systems making this pre-modern espresso maker extremely compatible with the modern espresso world.
Classic and down right charming, the Gaggia 11400 Achille Manuel Espresso Machine has the distinction of being a cutting edge in a genre that is most often traditional. The perfect marriage between nostalgic style and contemporary mechanics, the Achille is an example of espresso making at its finest.
