Cold brew coffee, one of the hottest, or should we say coolest trends in the coffee industry at the moment. Coffee drinkers everywhere seem to be dumping their hot cup of joe for his cooler younger brother, cold brew. Why is everyone breaking up with this classic hottie for the new brew in town?
Well, let's just say cold brew can give you everything you want and more! That's right, more caffeine plus, benefits.
What is Cold Brew?
Cold brew enjoys chilling on hot summer days, traveling, and taking it slow...slow brewing! Cold brew coffee takes its time to brew, steeping coffee grounds in cold or room temperature water for 12 to 24 hours. Unlike regular coffee, which is brewed with hot water and is ready to drink, the cold brew brewing method results in a coffee concentrate. This cold brew concentrate can be mixed with water or milk to create a drinkable coffee beverage.
What's the difference between Cold Brew and Iced Coffee?
If you saw cold brew on the street, you'd probably say he looks a lot like someone you know, iced coffee. While they may look the same, they're totally different on the inside.
Iced coffee is traditionally brewed hot coffee poured over ice. Cold Brew is actually brewed with cold water, creating a different flavor profile and whole different personality. Cold brew has a smoother, sweeter, and less bitter personality than hot-brewed iced coffee. He's also looking to be more than just friends.
Cold Brew - More than just a friend
Cold brew is super smooth...because of his slow brew method, you get the smoothest coffee and it's less acidic than hot coffee. Because you don't need that kind of negativity or acidity in your life.
He always knows how to perk you up and put a smile on your face. Cold brew tends to have higher caffeine content than hot brewed coffee because it is made from a coffee concentrate. The cold brewing process doesn't draw out more caffeine but cold brew is often brewed with a higher coffee to water ratio, which makes the end product more potent.
Cold brew is gentle and sweet. Not only do you get a smoother and sweeter taste with cold brew coffee, but its low acidity is also gentle on your stomach and teeth. You're less likely to get acid reflux and stain your teeth.
He's rich...in flavor! There' nothing wrong with being a cold digger, it just means you appreciate great-tasting coffee. Along with smoother and sweeter notes cold brew lacks the strong bitter notes commonly associated with coffee. Cold brew tends to have a mild flavor with more floral and earthy notes.
Cold brew has all the desirable traits you love in coffee. He's a little sweet, aromatic, and full of flavor. He doesn't have a bitter personality, which makes him so enjoyable to be around. Plus, he's good for you.
That's right, on top of that sweet and smooth personality, there's health benefits associated with this cup of coffee. Turns out drinking your daily coffee can reduce the risk of heart disease and extra cups help to reduce risk even more, to an extent.
He keeps you young. The cold brew method doesn't destroy the majority of the antioxidants like hot brewed coffee does, which means drinking cold brew coffee gives you your daily dose antiaging nutrients.
What's Nitro Cold Brew?
This is Cold Brew's sweeter and smoother brother with a bubbly personality and a great body. Like regular cold brew coffee, it is brewed slowly with cold water for 12 to 24 hours.
The biggest difference comes after the brewing process-cold brew is placed into a keg and dispensed through a kegerator system, where it's infused with nitrogen. This can be done using either nitrogen tanks or nitrogen generators. To learn more about the differences between the two, check out our Nitrogen Generators Guide. The infusion gives nitro cold brew its iconic rich, creamy body, making it irresistibly smooth and enjoyable.
Nitro is even sweeter than cold brew because of the nitrogen infusion, which gives it an even milder and richer flavor. It really brings out the sweet chocolatey notes in the coffee.
Taste, Drink or Marry
So, you drink coffee daily but you're curious about what else is out there. There's nothing wrong with trying out cold brew coffee for a while. Maybe your true love will always be hot brewed coffee but cold brew will always be there for a summer fling.
Maybe you just want to try out cold brew coffee once or occasionally call him up for a late-night when you really need him. We won't judge you for your brew-ty call, after all, cold brew is just so hard to resist.
Rich, smooth, and sweet. Honestly, you might want to consider introducing cold brew to your parents because he's marriage material. If you're really committed to cold brew, you may want to ask him to move into your kegerator. That way you can wake up with each other every day.
Whichever route you decided to choose, cold brew coffee is there to add flavor into your life and all the benefits don't hurt either. Give cold brew a chance and you may just fall in love!
