Q&A

The all-new FlexCount Series VSWR172-2SSRN Dual Zone Wine Cellar Refrigerator from Allavino is the perfect choice for wine aficionados with diverse collections. It features new cutting edge shelves, which are thin enough to allow more space between shelves than you will find in similarly sized wine refrigerators, allowing you to store larger bottles without sacrificing bottle capacity. These shelves are constructed of durable metal to provide reliable stability and prevent sagging over time, and are enhanced with stainless steel fronts and wood slats that cradle your bottles to help minimize harmful vibration. This dual zone refrigerator can store both red and white wine simultaneously, and a digital display with push button controls make it easy to individually adjust the temperature of each zone. Adding to it's versatility is it's front-venting design and finished top and sides, which give you the option to use it as a built-in or freestanding unit.

172 Bottle Capacity with 2 Cooling Zones

The VSWR172-2SSRN features 12 shelves that can hold up to 11 bottles each and 2 shelves that can hold up to 20 bottles each for a maximum bottle capacity of 172 bottles. The maximum capacity can be reached with many different bottle sizes and is only affected when adding in larger Pinot or Champagne bottles. Store both red and white wines with this dual zone unit, which features a digital display with easy-to-use push button controls that allow you to easily adjust each zone's temperature.

Digital Display with Blue LED Interior Lighting

Each zone has it's own digital display with easy to use push button controls so setting and reading the display is a snap! Cool blue LED lighting beautifully elegantly illuminates your bottles while remaining cooler than standard bulbs, and can be turned on or off with the push of a button.

Innovative New Shelf Design

Allavino is at the leading edge of shelf design, incorporating revolutionary metal shelves that are strong enough to hold bottles without sagging, yet thin enough to maximize the available space in the cabinet for wine storage. Wood slats refine each shelf and gently cradle each bottle to prevent harmful vibration from affecting your wine. Each shelf is finished with a stylish stainless steel front to match the door frame. Each of the shelves glide out smoothly on ball bearing tracks, so every bottle is easily accessible.

Store More Bottle Sizes

The intelligent design of the shelves creates more space between each shelf, allowing you to store bottles with varying diameters without having to remove racks which would reduce your overall capacity. Click on the Features tab above to see how your specific collection can be stored on the FlexCount shelves.

Built-In Design

This unit is front-venting, and can be built in to your cabinetry for a seamless look. It also has finished sides and top, allowing you to use it as a freestanding unit that will look great in any room of your home. A built-in security lock protects your collection, and two keys are included so that you can always have a backup on hand.

Fan-Forced Cooling

Internal fans circulate air inside the unit, reducing initial cool down time and preventing drastic temperature fluctuations that could be harmful to your wine.

  • Black Cabinet with Stainless Steel Frame Glass Door
  • Towel Bar and Curved Handle
  • All black interior emulates the traditional wine cellar
  • Two independently controlled temperature zones:
    • Upper Zone: The temperature setting can be adjusted between 41°F to 61°F
    • Lower Zone: The temperature setting can be adjusted between 45°F to 64°F
Note: The lower zone must be set at least 4° and no more than 12° higher than upper zone. It is normal for there to be a 3-5° variance between the top and bottom of a zone.
  • Maximum Ambient Temperature: 90°F
  • Minimum Ambient Temperature: The lowest temperature you want to store your wine at. The unit does not have a heater, so if the ambient temperature is lower than the set temperature, the internal temperature will match the external temperature.
  • Blue LED lighting beautifully illuminates the interior without the heat created by an incandescent bulb
  • Roller-glide shelves extend effortlessly, minimizing agitation to the wine
  • Internal fans circulate air for even cooling and faster cooldown
  • Dimensions: 71.5"H x 23.5"W x 27"D
  • Weight: 304.2 lbs.
  • Please Note: The handles are not attached to the unit during shipping, and will need to be installed when the unit arrives.

Wine Racks

This wine cellar has 12 shelves that can hold up to 11 bottles each and 2 shelves that can hold up to 20 bottles each for a maximum bottle capacity of 172 bottles. The maximum capacity can be reached with many different bottle sizes and is only affected when adding in larger Pinot or Champagne bottles, making this the ideal unit for diverse wine collections.

Allavino FlexCount Series Wine Refrigerators

Standard 750 mL bottle configuration

This is the standard 750 mL bottle, which most wine refrigerators are configured around as it is the most popular size on the market. It measures 11-1/2" tall with a 2-15/16" diameter and the shoulder tapers up from 7-3/4" to 8-1/2". This wine cellar has 12 shelves that can each hold up to 11 of these bottles and 2 shelves that can each hold up to 20 of these bottles for a maximum bottle capacity of 172 bottles.

Tall bottle configuration

This bottle is taller than the standard 750 mL bottle. It measures 12-1/16" tall with a 2-15/16" diameter and the shoulder tapers up from 8" to 9". The taller shoulder and top would normally wreak havoc on your wine storage because the necks would touch, making the overall length of the bottles too tall for most shelves or pushing the outside bottles out, causing them to hit the sides of the wine refrigerator. Generally, you would have to remove a shelf to accommodate these bottles, but with the extra space available on these shelves, they fit just fine and do not affect the overall capacity.

Wide Shoulder bottle configuration

This bottle has the same diameter at the base, but the shoulder is wider, which would generally push it out of the grooves and make it rub on the shelf above. It measures 11-7/8" tall with a 2-15/16" diameter at the base and the shoulder tapers up from 7-1/2" to 8-1/4" with a 3-1/16" diameter. Due to the smart spacing on these shelves, these bottles fit with room to spare, preventing rubbing and allowing the maximum bottle capacity to stay the same.

Wide bottle configuration

This bottle is wider and shorter than the standard 750 mL bottle. It measures 10-5/8" tall with a 3-1/4" diameter and the shoulder tapers up from 5-1/2" to 8". Bottles this wide don't usually fit in wine refrigerators and if they do, they have issues with rubbing on the shelf above and scuffing your labels. This wine refrigerator has no issues with this type of bottle so once again, your maximum capacity will not be affected if you have them in your collection.

Pinot bottle configuration

Until now, you wouldn't dream of fitting a Pinot bottle in a wine refrigerator without removing wine racks and drastically reducing the overall capacity. It measures 11-5/8" tall with a whopping 3-1/2" diameter and the shoulder tapers up from 5-1/2" to 8-1/4". On this model, you can fit 6 Pinot Bottles on the bottom shelf, 11 bottles on the lowest spaced shelf and 20 bottles each on the upper spaced shelf and the top shelf for a total of 57 Pinot bottles without having to remove a rack. Even with 57 Pinot bottles, you still have a capacity of 156 bottles.

Champagne bottles

You can even store Champagne bottles without having to remove a wine rack! They measures 12-1/4" tall with a 3-3/4" diameter and the shoulder tapers up from 5-1/2" to 7-3/4". This wine refrigerator will store 6 Champagne bottles on the bottom shelf and 8 on both the spaced shelves and top shelf for a total of 30 Champagne bottles and an overall capacity of 129 wine bottles.

Mixed bottle configuration

Perhaps there are people out there that only drink one type of wine, all the time. Most wine connoisseurs with a diverse palate are going to have varying bottle sizes in their collection, so having the ability to store all those varying bottle sizes without having to reconfigure and reduce your storage makes this the wine refrigerator of choice.

Gorgeous! But Understand "FlexCount"
Struggling Vine Theory

First of all this is a gorgeous wine fridge. It's very well made, it's quiet, and I'm glad I bought it. My only complaint is that the "FlexCount" shelves that they tout so much need to be explained a bit better. I have several different shaped Champagne, Prosecco, Cava bottles, so I was excited to be able to use this "almost any size bottle shelves." However, what they fail to mention is that those types of bottles (if buying dual zone) need to go on the very top shelf, where there is plenty of room. If you try to put bigger bottles on any of the 4 shelves below it, they can't shut without running in to the shelf above it. The flexcount video would have you believe that those bigger bottomed bottles can go on any shelf. They can't. Same with my larger red bottles, they either have to go on the very top shelf of the bottom portion, the very middle shelf (2 tier) the very bottom shelf of the bottom portion (2 tier). FlexCount does fit a lot of different shapes and types of bottles, but let's be honest, it's never going to be perfect in any wine fridge. If every bottle was the size of a Bordeaux bottle, life would be simpler with wine fridges, but they aren't. I would recommend this though. It's a fantastic wine fridge and I get tons of compliments on how beautiful it is.

Great Wine Fridge and very good Value
Todd

We had a 50 bottle wine fridge and the unit worked fine but was very hard to use. It was a Kenmore and the shelves were very difficult to pull out as well as they were not very deep. We found we could only fit about 30 bottles in it at any time.

My wife wanted to upgrade and we looked for a long time with most decent units pricing out around $2500. A critical feature we needed was shelves that were smooth to pull out, on rollers or ball bearings .

We also wanted a quiet unit and one with shelves DEEP enough to put two bottles in depth wise.

This unit arrived and we LOVE IT.
Quiet, sleek looking and works perfectly . The shelve are a dream and my wife was so excited she wished we had gotten it years ago.

Every time my wife takes a bottle out of this fridge, she says "ahhh" instead of "^%&^^%$" the damm shelves don't work."

Its a great unit at any price but an EXCEPTIONAL unit at this price ! Wow

Good unit, maybe not for expensive wines
Patrick

This is our first large capacity wine cooler and are so far pleased with it after 5 days of use. The shelves are good and solid, and allow for easy placement of varying bottle sizes. Some of the real larger ones, I have turned the labels toward the sides as they do just barely scrap the shelf above.
The unit is placed in our Dining room where our old 30 bottle unit sat. It is fairly quiet, but louder than the old unit when the fan kicks on. We have an open floor plan from the Dining room to the Living room, so I do hear it running, but it's not annoying.
I would say though, that if you have expensive bottles that need to be kept at a steady temp, then this unit may not be for you. I have noticed some, what I consider to be, large temperature swings. I have seen the temp display ready 50 degrees and then 55 10 minutes latter. It dose seem to keep a steady temp of 53 which is where I want it. To keep the red wine temp, the lower section, set to 53, I have to set the thermostat to 51. Since you have to have at least a 9 degree temp difference between the upper and lower section, the upper section for our white wine is cooler than what I originally set it for.
So far, I am happy with it with my simple wine tastes.

Question:
Will they put it in the house or only the garage?
by Kate on January 21, 2019
Answer:
The delivery would be to the front door or to the front of the garage. If you would like the unit brought inside, we can provide you with a white glove delivery quote. That would include inside delivery and removal of the packaging debris.

Question:
I'm assuming top zone is white and bottom is red. What is the capacity of each zone?
by SMOKYHILL on May 10, 2019
Answer:
It depends on the type of bottle.

Wine Racks
This wine cellar has 10 shelves that can hold up to 11 bottles each, 2 shelves that can hold 20 bottles each, and a top shelf that can hold up to 27 bottles for a maximum bottle capacity of 177 bottles.

This wine cellar has 12 shelves that can each hold up to 11 of these bottles and 2 shelves that can each hold up to 20 bottles for a maximum bottle capacity of 172 bottles
